1956 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Kaj Lange, has as its motif Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. The Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate of 1956 depicts Rosenborg castle in the centre of Copenhagen. This palace was built in 1608-17 by king Christian IV, and used as his summer residence. The buildings were inspired by the Dutch renaissance. Now Rosenborg palace is used for museum purposes, the Chronological collections of the Danish kings, the crown jewels, and for collectors of Royal Copenhagen a com- plete set of Flora Danica service. The Rosenborg collections are owned by the Danish Royal family.
