Outside The Lighted Window 1919, Bing & Grondahl Christmas Plate

1919 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by Achton Friis, has the title Outside the lighted Window. Bing & Grondahl’s Christmas plate from 1919 depicts a motif taken from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Matchgirl. We see the little girl standing with her basket ouside in the cold, looking towards the lighted windows to the warm room. This motif was also interpreted by Inge- borg Plockross Irminger on the 1907 plate.
